How Yuumiu Works
A practical guide to setting up and using Yuumiu companions—connection, interaction, boundaries, data controls, and updates.
Section 1 — Start from your context
- Choose a companion family that fits your moment.
- Choose a product (or join a waitlist).
- Connect via Tuya / Smart Life and set boundaries—then use it naturally in real life.
- Soft Companions — close everyday presence (Bear Elf / Dino Elf) → /soft-companions/
- Capture Companions — memory & review → /capture-companions/
- Presence Companions — shared spaces → /presence-companions/
- Wearable Companions — mobility timing → /wearable-companions/

Section 2 — Why Yuumiu uses Tuya
Yuumiu uses Tuya because it provides mature IoT connectivity at scale and an established trust and compliance program. Tuya is a public company listed on NYSE (TUYA) and HKEX (2391) and positions itself as a leading global AI cloud platform service provider dedicated to bringing AI into everyday life.
Tuya’s Trust Center publishes its security, privacy, and compliance posture and references widely recognized assurance frameworks and certifications (for example SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC standards, and related compliance documentation).
- Tuya handles infrastructure: reliable connectivity and app-level device management patterns.
- Yuumiu handles experience: companion-first interaction design and context-shaped product logic across families.
- Trust stays visible: Yuumiu sets boundaries and expectations; Tuya provides mature security/compliance foundations.
- Expandable across forms: one consistent connection layer supports multiple companion families over time.

Section 3 — Setup & connection
- Put your Yuumiu device into pairing mode (see the quick start card).
- Open the Tuya / Smart Life app and tap Add Device (+).
- Follow the guided pairing steps (the app may suggest different pairing modes depending on the device state).
- Confirm the device is online, name it, and complete basic settings.
Setup can vary slightly by model and region. If pairing fails, see Troubleshooting below. Pairing reference: Tuya pairing guidance.
Section 4 — Everyday interaction (companion-first)
Yuumiu companions are designed to fit real-life contexts. You don’t need “command language.” Use short, natural prompts and treat the companion as a steady support layer—light check-ins, reflection, reminders, and context-fit suggestions that don’t interrupt life.
- Natural prompts, not commands
- Calm continuity over constant engagement
- Works across moments: home, movement, shared spaces, transitions
Section 5 — Boundaries are explicit (trust-by-design)
- Behavior depends on the product and the modes you enable.
- If capture features exist, they are designed to be explicitly controlled with clear cues.
- Yuumiu companions are not caregivers, doctors, or guardians. They support people; they don’t replace people.
Section 6 — Data & controls
Because Yuumiu products connect through Tuya / Smart Life, core device management and many device-level controls are accessed through the app. Yuumiu’s Trust & Privacy pages explain the boundaries, expectations, and what “trust-by-design” means at the ecosystem level.
- Manage device status and key settings in the Tuya / Smart Life app.
- Review app permissions and connectivity settings appropriate to your environment.
- For policy clarity and boundaries, refer to Yuumiu Trust & Privacy.
Section 7 — Updates
Yuumiu may deliver firmware and feature updates to improve performance and safety. When updates affect interaction behavior or boundaries, Yuumiu’s expectation is that changes are surfaced clearly so users stay in control.
Section 8 — Current starting points
If you’re starting today, these are the simplest ways to enter the Yuumiu ecosystem. Many people begin with Soft Companions for everyday presence, and explore other families as different contexts become relevant.

Section 9 — Troubleshooting (quick checks)
- Confirm the device is in pairing mode.
- Retry Add Device in the app.
- Restart device/router and retry.
- Re-run pairing (the app may suggest alternative pairing modes).
- Check phone permissions / local network settings.
